On Friday, January 25 a man, born in 1969, was detained in the territory of Slītere National Park and illegally harvested fish (taimen) were seized.

While carrying out sea border surveillance tasks, the border guards of the Ventspils Board performed an inspection of a Volkswagen Amorak car in the dune zone of the Slītere National Park near the Cape of Kolka. During the inspection, the border guards found that the driver had no permission to enter the dune zone and there were fish (taimen) in the vehicle.

Neither the border guards nor the officials of the Nature Conservation Board and the officers of the State Police, called at the scene, achieved success in having look at the illegally harvested fish, as the man, born in 1969, did not obey the legal requirements of the officials and refused to show the car passenger compartment.

Only with a prosecutor's decision to conduct a search, the law enforcement officers carried out an inspection of the car passenger compartment and seized the illegally obtained fish.

Further procedural actions were performed by officials of the State Police and Nature Conservation Board within the scope of their competence.
