On Thursday, August 1, in Rezekne border guards provided first aid to a person involved in a road traffic accident.
On Thursday evening, border guards of the Aviation Board and Terehova Border Control Point of the Lūdza Board of the State Border Guard became eyewitnesses to collision of a car Audi 80 and a motorcycle at the intersection of Liberation Avenue and Lubana Street, as a result a motorcycle driver (woman) was injured.
Officials of the State Border Guard immediately called the emergency services and took first aid measures for the motorcycle driver.
After a while, the State Police, the State Fire and Rescue Service and the Emergency Medical Service arrived at the scene of the accident.
After the emergency medical service and State Police officers arrived the motorcycle driver was taken to the hospital.
Border guards, as eyewitnesses, provided evidence regarding the road accident to the State Police officers.
The Border Guard of the Aviation Board of the State Border Guard has successfully completed the Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) course, which facilitates the provision of quality first aid to the person involved in a road accident.
It should be noted that this week these is the second case when border guards are involved in saving lives outside their service hours. On Monday, July 29, on "Kārsava-Rezekne" road a border guard rescued a woman from a crashed and burning car.
