On Friday, June 26 in Riebiņi Municipality the operative group of the Special Operations Service "Sigma" of the Aviation Board of the State Border Guard, providing support to the officers of the Criminal Police Division of the Rēzekne Police Station of the Latgale Region Board of the State Police, detained an armed store robber after prolonged persecution.
In the settlement Malta Trūpi of Galēni Parish of Riebiņi Municipality the operative group "Sigma" of the Special Operations Service of the Aviation Board of the State Border Guard in co - operation with officers of the Criminal Police Division of the Rēzekne Police Station of the Latgale Region Board of the State Police detained a person who, threatening a seller with a firearm-like object, robbed the store.
During the detention, the person behaved aggressively, resisted and tried to grip hands on a service weapon, as a result, the border guards were forced to use physical force.
A gun-like object and a small bag with money were found in the man's possession.
The man was placed in a State Police short-term detention facility.
Criminal proceedings were initiated under Article 176(4) of the Criminal Law (for a person who commits robbery, if it has been committed using firearms or explosives, or if it is related to the infliction of serious bodily injury on the victim, or if other serious consequences have been caused thereby).
On Sunday, June 28 the person was imposed arrest.
