On Thursday August 24, 2023, border guards stopped the illegal movement of cigarettes across the Latvian-Belarusian state border.
During the inspection of the borderland, State Border Guard officials found eight boxes wrapped in black polyethylene film in Ķepova Parish. The packages were handed over to the State Police.
80 000 cigarettes with Belarusian excise stamps were founded inside the packages.
Criminal proceedings were initiated regarding the abovementioned fact in accordance with Section 221, Paragraph three of the Criminal Law
