On Tuesday, February 8, a meeting between the Chief of the State Border Guard (SBG) General Guntis Pujāts and Head of the European Migrant Smuggling Center (EMSC) Mr. Robert Črepinko was held at the premises of the Central Board of the State Border Guard.
During the meeting, the Head of the EMSC provided comprehensive information on the possibilities of the EMSC to offer practical assistance and support in preventing and combating illegal migration. Moreover, Mr. Pujāts and Mr. Črepinko had a discussion on the situation on the Latvian - Belarusian state border, existing risks and trends in the context of the hybrid attack carried out by the authorities of the Republic of Belarus, as well as on potential cooperation mechanisms within the EUROPOL’s financial instruments.
The Head of the EMSC visited the National Coordination Center of the Operational Management Board of the SBG, where he was informed on the tasks of the center, introduced to the European Border Surveillance System (EUROSUR) and technical means used for ensuring border surveillance.
