On May 7 - 10 General Normunds Garbars, the Chief of the State Border Guard, together with Rihards Kozlivskis, the Minister of the Interior, visited Spain.
During the visit, the Chief of the State Border Guard and the Minister of the Interior visited the National Coordination Center of the European Border Surveillance System in Spain and discussed the support provided by Latvia to the joint operations of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex), as well as the situation and challenges regarding the Western Mediterranean migration route.
During the visit, Normunds Garbars and Rihards Kozlovskis also visited the Valpa, ship of the State Border Guard, and met with its team.
