On December 14, 2022, General Guntis Pujāts participated in the reporting meeting of the State Border Guard Liaison Officer in Moldova, where the Liaison Officer presented the results of his activities and up-to-date information. As part of the event, the Chief of the State Border Guard presented awards – the State Border Guard medals for contribution to the development of the State Border Guard, to the Head of Border Police of the Republic of Moldova, R. Vasiloi, and to the Head of the Special Tasks Unit of Border Police of the Republic of Moldova, A. Teut.
On December 15 and 16, the Chief of the State Border Guard took part in the Eastern Europe Security Belt Forum, organised by the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Moldova, where he discussed building joint action in response to Russian aggression on Ukrainian territory. At the Forum, General Guntis Pujāts presented the experience and best practices of the State Border Guard in response to the existing geopolitical situation. Within the framework of the Forum's panels the participants also were involved in discussions on potential scenarios for improving the internal security situation, the development of collective strategic and operational response capacity, as well as the establishment of multilateral cooperation mechanisms.
As part of the Forum, a visit to border regions close to the war zone was also planned to gain an understanding of Moldova's national response mechanisms.
