On August 30 - 31 the Chief of the State Border Guard, General Normunds Garbars, is on a working visit to the Republic of Belarus to meet Major General Anatoly Lappo, the Chairman of the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
Within the framework of the visit the following issues will be discussed: the situation at the state borders of Latvia and Belarus, the implementation of the Joint Action Plan for 2018, the implementation of the decisions taken at the meeting of the Heads of the Latvian and Byelorussian Border Guard Authorities on October 13, 2017, as well as issues related to the implementation of European Union projects and their contribution to improving the state border security and the management of people and vehicles flows.
The visit is organized on the basis of the Joint Action Plan for 2018 of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia and the State Border Guard Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
Cooperation between the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia and the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus takes place on the basis of the Protocol on Cooperation between the Operational Structural Units of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia and the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus of October 12, 2017; Protocol on Cooperation between the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia and the State Border Guard Committee of the Republic of Belarus of April 10, 2014; Protocol on Mutual Cooperation in the Field of Information Exchange on the Situation Regarding the Security Threats at the Latvian-Belorussian borders between the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia and the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus of 10 April 2014 and the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Latvia and the Government of the Republic of Belarus on the Latvian-Belarussian Border Regime of April 10, 2013.
