On Saturday, December 7, the Criminal Investigation Service of the Daugavpils Board of the State Border Guard in the Augšdaugava Municipality detained two Ukrainian citizens - organizers of a group that organized the criminal offense in connection with the imitation of State Police and State Border Guard vehicles.
While carrying out operational measures, officials of the Criminal Investigation Service of the Daugavpils Board of the State Border Guard in Medumi Parish on the E262 road (Daugavpils - Rēzekne - Ostrova) detained two Ukrainian citizens - organizers of the group that organized the criminal offenses on October 8 and November 1, where the offenders used vehicles with fake police and border guard identity painted and vehicle license plates duplicated to transport migrants.
The persons were detained in the framework of criminal proceedings initiated earlier under Section 2851(3) of the Criminal Law for knowingly ensuring a person with the possibility of reside illegally in the Republic of Latvia, if such a possibility is provided for more than five persons.
It has already been reported that on October 8, the State Police, in cooperation with the State Border Guard, while carrying out a large scale operation, announcing a special plan "trap" and conducting continuous pursuit from the Belarus-Latvia state border, detained 46 illegal migrants and two “carriers”, who used a vehicle with a fake police identity painted and a vehicle license plate duplicated for criminal activities. In turn, three weeks later, on November 1, the State Border Guard detained 25 illegal migrants and two “carriers” who used a vehicle with a fake Border Guard identity painted and a vehicle license plate duplicated for criminal activities.
