On Friday, December 1, no one person was stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13728 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 416 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On December 1, officials of the State Border Guard detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Leeds, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigner

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine due to security reasons. The person was returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

six citizens of Uzbekistan and one - of Russia were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by two citizens of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London, and one – for East Midlands, without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, were detected. As well as at the Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Dubai, who was not in possession of the notarised consent of at least one parent for the child to depart from the country independently, was detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – three citizens of Estonia, three – of Armenia, one – of Russia, one – of Kameron and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, three - of Latvia, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan.
