On Monday, December 11, four persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13810 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 428 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On December 11, officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Dublin, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one – of Great Britain, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents, as well as to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. Two more citizens of Ukraine, one – of Moldova and one - of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

five citizens of Uzbekistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – three citizens of Tajikistan, two – of Uzbekistan and one – of India.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, three – of Armenia, three – of Moldova, three – of Tajikistan, two – of Kazakhstan, one - of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Uzbekistan.
