On Wednesday, December 11, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5388 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 43 offenders at external borders and within the country. 23 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Ukraine leaving Latvia with a car, who presented to border guards a forged Ukrainian vehicle registration certificate, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one Latvian citizen (female) leaving the country for Great Britain, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners
at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has a Schengen entry ban (he is not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 11 foreigners
six citizens of Uzbekistan, four – of Moldova and one – of Turkey were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by two citizens of Moldova was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons – five citizens of Tajikistan, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania and one – of Turkey.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Germany.
