On Tuesday, December 12, no one person was stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13810 persons have been stopped during this year.
A total 428 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On December 12, officials of the State Border Guard detected 36 offenders at external borders and within the country.
11 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted person was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia departing for Sharm el-Sheikh, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents, as well as to two citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. One more citizen of Russia was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners
one citizen of Serbia was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – two citizens of Estonia, one – of Latvia and one – of India.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, five – of Kazakhstan, four – of Russia, two - of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Armenia, one – of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan.
