On Thursday, December 12, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5388 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country. 14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 14 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Canada, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Turkey and one – of Pakistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Belarus, one - of Russia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Ukraine was detected at the Terehova Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 persons

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travel to Great Britain, and one citizen of Finland departing for the United Arab Emirates, who was not in possession of valid travel document, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons -  two citizens of Estonia, two – of India, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Vietnam. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Romania, one – of Serbia, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan.
