On Wednesday, December 13, 16 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13826 persons have been stopped this year.

A total 428 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On December 13, officials of the State Border Guard detected 32 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the Pāternieki, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. One more citizen of Ukraine was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Moldova, one - of Kirgizstan and one - of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Istanbul, who was not in possession of the notarised consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Estonia and one – of India.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, three – of Kirgizstan, three – of Moldova, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Russia and one – of San Marino.
