On Friday, December 13, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5388 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 58 offenders at external borders and within the country. 20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Turkey, one - Uzbekistan and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; while at the Pāternieki Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 10 foreigners

six citizens of Uzbekistan, three – of Tajikistan and one - of Moldova were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 persons

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two minor citizens of Latvia departing for Turkey, without the notarized consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 28 persons -  24 citizens of Ukraine, one – of Russia, one - of Estonia, one – of Romania and one – of Uzbekistan. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Latvia, two – of Kazakhstan, one - of Belarus, one – of Estonia, one – of Georgia, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Ukraine.
