On Thursday, December 14, 12 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13838 persons have been stopped this year.

A total 428 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On December 14, officials of the State Border Guard detected 37 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

12 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point one Georgian citizen, who presented to border guards a forged Georgian driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 foreigners

at the Pāternieki and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Russia

due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Moldova, one - of Great Britain and one - of Uzbekistan were detected at the Pāternieki, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – one citizen of Lithuania, one – of Estonia, one – of Moldova and one – of Pakistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, four – of Kazakhstan, two – of Russia, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Latvia, one – of Italy, one – of Canada, one – of Poland and one – of Serbia.
