On Saturday, December 17, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country.

25 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Port of Ventspils, the Vientuļi, the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and one – of India, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Turkish, as the purpose of entry and stay indicated by foreigner was not reliable; to one citizen of Great Britain, as the foreigner has exceeded the specified period of stay in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries; as well as four citizens of Russia and two – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia for security reasons.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

one citizen of Moldova, one – of Belarus, one – of Jordan and one – of Georgia were detected at the Terehova, the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime). Persons were subjected to administrative liability

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female), departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected to one citizen of Tajikistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Latvia, three – of Ukraine, two – of Lithuania, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Russia and one – of Belarus.
