On Sunday, December 17, 2 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13855 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 428 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On December 17, officials of the State Border Guard detected 34 offenders at external borders and within the country.
15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. Two more citizens of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
one citizen of Kazakhstan, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Pāternieki, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons – two citizens of Lithuania, two – of Mali, two – of Tajikistan and one – of Cameroon.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Russia, two – of Latvia, one – of Moldova, one – of Serbia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
