On Sunday, December 18, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country.

30 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person was detained

one citizen of Lithuania wanted by the Police, entering the Republic of Latvia by ferry from Sweden, was detected. The man was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Silene and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Kazakhstan and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as four citizens of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Belarus, and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for Edinburg without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for two foreigners – one citizen of Lithuania and one citizen of Georgia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two - of Moldova, one - of Latvia, one - of Russia, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Poland, one – of Tajikistan, one – of German and one – of Turkish.
