On Monday, December 2, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5345 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 21 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 39 offenders at external borders and within the country. 31 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki, the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points and Port of Riga, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to five citizens of Moldova, four - of Belarus, two – of Ukraine and one – of Russia (a seafarer) due to security reasons. Regarding the seafarer, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship's captain that the foreigner will not go ashore while the ship is in port, the other persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 12 foreigners

eight citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova and one of Tajikistan were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two citizens of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel documents were not valid for travel to Great Britain, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for two citizens of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 6 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Moldova, one - of Belarus, one – of Armenia, one – of Slovakia and one – of Uzbekistan.
