On Tuesday, December 20, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country.

23 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Pātaernieki Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented forged Ukrainian vehicle registration certificate, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged documents were seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Uzbekistan, two of Bosnia and Hercegovina, one – of Moldova, one – of Serbia and one – of Azerbaijan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. One more citizen of Russia was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area were violated by 5 foreigners

three citizens of Moldova, one – of Ukraine and one of Belarus were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for two foreigners – one citizen of Estonia and one citizen of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, two - of Georgia, one - of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Moldova and one – of Ukraine.
