On Friday, December 20, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5388 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 36 offenders at external borders and within the country. 16 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to three citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Great Britain and one – of Georgia were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travel to Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons -  one citizen of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of India and one – of Uzbekistan. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Romania, one – of Russia, one – of Belgium, one – of Moldova, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Sweden.
