On Wednesday, December 21, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country.

18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was banned from entry into and stay in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries. As well as three citizens of Ukraine and two of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Ukraine, one – of Belarus and one – of Moldova were detected at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime). Persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for Leeds without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, and one citizen of Latvia, departing for Leeds without valid travel document (the document has been reported as stolen), were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 foreigners – six citizens of Moldova and one citizen of Belarus.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Russia, two – of Latvia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Estonia, one – of Armenia, one - of Moldova, one – of Rumania and one – of Uzbekistan.
