On Saturday, December 21, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5388 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 39 offenders at external borders and within the country. 18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Kazakhstan entering Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Montenegro International Vehicle Insurance Policy, was detected. The person was held administratively liable.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 foreigners

at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Lithuania and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of China and one – of Ukraine were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, who was prohibited to leave the country, as well as one minor citizen of Latvia, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons -  three citizens of Estonia and two – of Russia. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Uzbekistan, three – of Belarus, three – of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – Estonia, one - of Lithuania, one of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Serbia and one – of Ukraine.
