On Thursday, December 22, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 43 offenders at external borders and within the country.
18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted person was detained
in the Ventspils Department, while checking the passenger lists, one non-citizen of Latvia entering Latvia from Sweden, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners
at the Terehova and the Silene Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. As well as two citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area were violated by 5 foreigners
one citizen of Ukraine, one – of Belarus, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Canada and one – of Great Britain were detected at the Terehova, the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 foreigners – one citizen of Estonia and one citizen of Lithuania.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, four – of Lithuania, four - of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Canada, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Montenegro.
