On Friday, December 22, no one person was stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13859 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 428 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On December 22, officials of the State Border Guard detected 55 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizens of Latvia entered Latvia from Dublin, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents. Two more citizens of Ukraine and one – of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

four citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Ukraine were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – four citizens of Lithuania, two – of Georgia, two – of Tajikistan and one – of Moldova.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 28 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 10 citizens of Belarus, four – of Russia, four – of Lithuania, three – of Kazakhstan, two – of Latvia, two – of Serbia, two – of Uzbekistan and one – of Kirgizstan.
