On Sunday, December 22, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5388 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 37 offenders at external borders and within the country. 14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners
at the Terehova Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; while at the Port of Ventspils and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Russia (two - seafarer) due to security reasons. Regarding the seafarers, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ships’ captains that the foreigners will not go ashore while the ship is in port, the other persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners
two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Kazakhstans and one – of Georgia were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Turkey, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Georgia and one – of Kazakhstan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, three – of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, two - of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of France, one – of Georgia, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Germany.
