On Monday, December 23, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5388 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 42 offenders at external borders and within the country. 30 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 citizen of Latvia with forged documents was detected
at the Port of Ventspils, during the profiling of vehicles and passengers on a ferry arrived from Sweden, a citizen of Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Polish driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to two citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner has a Schengen entry ban (he is not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Moldova, two – of Ukraine, one – of Portugal and one - of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners
three citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Ukraine, one – of Belarus and one – of Moldova were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points and the Port of Riga, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 non-citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one non-citizen of Latvia departing for Ireland, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Russia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one - of Belarus, one – of Lithuania, one – of Austria, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Moldova.
