On Saturday, December 24, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 71 offenders at external borders and within the country.

29 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

• 2 foreigners with forged documents were detected

  • at the Terehova Border Control Point one citizen of Ukraine, who presented to the border guards a forged Ukrainian driver's license, was detected; while at the Silene Border Control Point one citizen of Kazakhstan, who presented to the border guards a forged Serbian driver's license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged documents were seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.

 

  • 2 wanted persons were detained

in the Ventspils Department, while checking the passenger lists, two citizens of Lithuania entering Latvia from Sweden, who are wanted by the Police, were detected. The persons were detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  •  entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, one – of Russia, one – of Belarus and one – of Azerbaijan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. Two citizens of Moldova, one – of Ukraine and one – of Azerbaijan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, as they were banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen Area Countries. Two more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area were violated by 3 foreigners

one  citizen of Belarus, one – of Ukraine and one – of Russia were detected at the Silene, the Tereheva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 foreigners – one citizen of Russia, one – of Lithuania and one citizen of Moldova.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 36 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eighteen citizens of Belarus, five – of Russia, three – of Serbia, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Lithuania, one – of Estonia, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Moldova, one – of Poland and one – of Ukraine.
