On Monday, December 25, no one person was stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13863 persons have been stopped during this year.

A total 428 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On December 25, officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

25 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Lebanon and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; to four citizens of Ukraine and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Three more citizens of Moldova, two – of Ukraine and one - of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

three citizens of Moldova, one – of Russia, one – of India, one – of Iran and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, one citizen of Latvia departing for Istanbul without valid for travelling to Turkey document, as well as one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Kutaisi, who was not in possession of the notarised consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons – one citizen of Latvia, one - of Estonia and one – of Moldova.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, three – of Tajikistan, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Latvia, two – of Kirgizstan, one – of Estonia, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Moldova.
