On Wednesday, December 25, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5388 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 28 offenders at external borders and within the country. 14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person was detained

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Russia departing for Belarus, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigner

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. The person was returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

two citizens of Russia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Moldova were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Moldova was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the country was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia, departing for Belarus, whose travel documents were not valid to travel to Belarus, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Poland, two - of Belarus, two – of Kirgizstan, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
