On Thursday, December 26, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5388 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country. 20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan entering Latvia with a vehicle and a trailer, who presented to border guards forged Roadworthiness certificates, was detected. The person was held administratively liable for the use of forged documents. The forged documents were seized within the framework of the administrative procedure.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, three citizens of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel documents were not valid to travel to Great Britain, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, four – of Uzbekistan, two – of Latvia, two – of Kirgizstan, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Romania, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Sweden.
