On Thursday, December 29, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 68 offenders at external borders and within the country.

41 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

• 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point one citizen of Germany, who presented to the border guards a forged Polish driver's license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged documents were seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 20 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Tajikistan, two - of Ukraine and two – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; one – of Moldova, one – of Georgia, one – of Azerbaijan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. Eight more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area were violated by 7 foreigners

two  citizen of Moldova, three – of Ukraine, one – of Belarus and one – of Kazakhstan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki, the Terehova  and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 foreigners – three citizens of Ukraine, one – of Armenia and one citizen of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Russia, two – of Belarus, two – of Azerbaijan, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Ukraine, one – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Georgia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Serbia, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Uzbekistan.
