On Sunday, December 3, 14 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 13755 persons have been stopped this year.

A total 416 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On December 3, officials of the State Border Guard detected 37 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 foreigners

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Serbia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document.  One more citizen of Russia was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Chile was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Istanbul, who was not in possession of valid travel document (document has been declared stolen or lost), was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons – one citizen of Georgia, one – of Canada and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, two – of Moldova, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Tajikistan.
