On Saturday, December 31, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 35 offenders at external borders and within the country.

12 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Terehova Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented to border guards a forged Ukrainian driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged documents were seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigner

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine due to security reasons. Person was returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area were violated by 5 foreigners

two citizens of Belarus, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Georgia and one - 

of Egypt were detected at the Silene, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Ukraine, three – of Latvia, three – of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two – of Uzbekistan, two – of Tajikistan, one – of Armenia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Portugal and one – of Serbia.
