On Sunday, December 4, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country.

26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Russia and one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigners were  not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to four citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their travel and stay; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner is prohibited from entering and staying in the territory of the Schengen States; as well as to one citizen of Ukraine and two – of Russia for security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area were violated by 8 foreigners

eight citizens of Ukraine were detected at the Pāternieki, the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa-free regime). Persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, five - of Moldova, one – of Tadzhikistan, one –of Kirgizstan, one - of Russia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Latvia.
