On Wednesday, December 4, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5355 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 43 offenders at external borders and within the country. 22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan entering Latvia with a heavy goods vehicle, who presented to border guards a forged Kyrgyzstan roadworthiness test certificate, was detected. The person was held administratively liable.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners have already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days. While at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, two -  of Moldova and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

four citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Kyrgyzstan were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons - three citizens of Estonia, two – of Vietnam, one – of Latvia, one – of Nepal and one – of Tajikistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Lithuania, two - of Belarus, one – of Russia, one - of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Romania and one – of Uzbekistan.
