On Tuesday, December 6, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 35 offenders at external borders and within the country.

11 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person was detained

one Latvian citizen, entering the Republic of Latvia from Manchester, was detained at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point. The man born in 1997 has been wanted by the Police since October 2020 in order to ensure the execution of a custodial sentence. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

• a citizen of Ukrainian was detained with forged documents

a citizen of Ukrainian was detained at the Grebneva Border Control Point on suspicion of using a forged Ukrainian driving license. An expert examination of the document confirmed the forgery. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The person was placed in a Temporary Detention Place of the State Police.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Silene Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. Persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Russia, one – of Moldova and one – of Belarus were detected at the Terehova and the Silene Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for three foreigners – two citizens of Estonia and one citizen of Tajikistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Russia, three - of Belarus, three – of Kirgizstan, three – of Ukraine, three – of Latvia, two - of Moldova, one –of Lithuania and one – of Uzbekistan.
