On Friday, December 6, 12 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5367 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 33 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 2 foreigners with forged documents were detected
At the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan entering Latvia with a heavy goods vehicle and trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Kyrgyzstan roadworthiness test certificate, was detected. The person was held administratively liable, the roadworthiness test certificate was seized. While at the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Germany entering Latvia with a heavy goods vehicle and trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Russian driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged document was seized.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 14 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Tajikistan, one – of Russia and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Belarus, one – of Turkey and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner has a Schengen entry ban (he is not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine and two - of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 10 foreigners
eight citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Moldova and one – of Mongolia were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travel to Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Moldova.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Latvia, five – of Belarus, two – of Ukraine and one – of Estonia.
