On Saturday, December 7, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5367 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 26 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 29 offenders at external borders and within the country. 13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Port of Ventspils, during the profiling of vehicles and passengers on a ferry departing for Sweden, a citizen of Lithuania, who presented to border guards a forged Lithuanian driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the country was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travel to Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Russia and one – of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Lithuania, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Hungary and one – of Sweden.
