On Friday, December 8, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 32 offenders at external borders and within the country.

16 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted Latvian citizen was detained

one Latvian citizen, entering the Republic of Latvia from Edinburg, was detained at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point. The man born in 1998 has been wanted by the Police since November 2022 in order to ensure the execution of a custodial sentence. The Latvian citizen was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Silene Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, one – of Belarus and one – of Armenia as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. Persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area were violated by 4 foreigners

one citizen of Russia, two – of Moldova and one – of Georgia were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for two foreigners – one citizen of Russia and one citizen of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, two - of Estonia, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Uzbekistan, one - of Moldova, one – of Rumania, one - of Russia, one –of Lithuania and one - of Latvia.
