During the holidays, on April 2 and 5, border guards in Valka detected 13 Ukrainian citizens who presented fake Covid-19 tests to border guards.
On Friday, April 2, officials of the Vidzeme Service of the Riga Board of the State Border Guard, while conducting immigration control on the A3 highway in Valka, stopped a Volkswagen Transporter brand car and identified eight Ukrainian citizens with fake Covid-19 tests.
Persons have been fined according to Section 3(1) of the Law on Administrative Penalties for Offences in the Field of Administration, Public Order, and Use of the Official Language, with 650 euros each.
While on Monday, April 5, border guards stopped a Mercedes Benz Sprinter brand car and identified five Ukrainian citizens with fake Covid-19 tests.
Four persons have been fined according to Section 3(1) of the Law on Administrative Penalties for Offences in the Field of Administration, Public Order, and Use of the Official Language, with 500 euros each, while the driver - with 600 euros.
In both cases, file materials have been transferred to the State Police, which has commenced criminal proceedings after the Section 275(1) of the Criminal Law regarding the forgery of a document conferring rights or a release from obligations, of a seal or a stamp, as well as using or selling a forged document, seal or stamp.
