On Thursday the 4th of January, 2018 the State Border Guard's officials detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country.

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point 1 citizen of Belarus was refused entry into Latvia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. While at the Pāternieki and the "Riga" Airport Border Control Points 2 citizens of Ukraine were refused entry into Latvia, as the foreigners have resided on the territory of Schengen member states for 90 days within the previous 180-day period. The persons were returned to the countries of exit.At the "Riga" Airport Border Control Point 1 citizen of Morocco and 1 citizen of Armenia, who violated the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen states (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the period of stay laid down in a visa), were detected. Record-keeping regarding administrative violations, committed by the citizens of Morocco and Armenia, was not commenced.While carrying out immigration control measures within the country violations of entry or residence conditions were detected to 11 persons - 5 citizens of Lithuania, 4 - of Russia, 1 - of Latvia and 1 person who is neither citizen of any country.
For violation of terms and conditions in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability by officials of the State Boarder Guard of Latvia - 11 citizens of Russia, 4 - of Latvia, 3 - of Belarus, 2 - of Estonia, 1 - of Ukraine, and 1 - of Lithuania.
