Events at the state border and within the country - January 16, 2019

On Wednesday the 16th of January, 2019 the State Border Guard's officials detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country.

26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

10 foreigners were refused entry into Latvia

At the Terehova Border Control Point 1 citizen of Russia was refused entry into Latvia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. At the "Riga" Airport Border Control Point 1 citizen of Brazil was refused entry into Latvia, as the foreigner has resided on the territory of Schengen member states for 90 days within the previous 180-day period. While at the Pāternieki Border Control Point 8 citizens of Ukraine were refused entry into Latvia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry into and stay in the country and they were not in possession of sufficient means of subsistence to visit the Schengen states. The persons were returned to the exit countries.

Violations of resident conditions were detected to 2 foreigners

At the Grebņeva and the "Riga" Airport Border Control Points 1 citizen of Russia and 1 - of Ukraine, who violated the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen states (exceeded the period of stay laid down in a visa, exceeded the period of stay of the visa-free regime), were detected. Record-keeping regarding administrative violations committed by the citizen of Ukraine was not commenced, the citizen of Russia was subject to administrative liability.

2 citizens of Latvia were refused exit from the country

At the "Riga" Airport Border Control Point 1 minor citizen of Latvia, who was not in possession of notarially certified agreement of at least one parent for his independent travelling outside Latvia, as well as 1 citizen of Latvia (female), who was not in possession of valid travel document, were detected. The persons were refused exit from the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country violations of entry or residence conditions were detected to 6 persons - 3 citizens of Moldova, 1 - of Russia, 1 - of Lithuania and 1 - of Latvia.

For violation of terms and conditions in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels 8 persons were subjected to administrative liability by officials of the State Boarder Guard of Latvia - 5 citizens of Belarus and 3 - of Latvia.
