On Friday, February 10, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 52 offenders at external borders and within the country.
29 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted person was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia leaving Latvia for London, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 19 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Vientuļi and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to three citizens of Moldova and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. 12 more citizens of Ukraine and two – of Belarus were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 8 foreigners
six citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Moldova were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation of the Moldovan citizen was not initiate, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, three - of Ukraine, two – of Latvia, one - of Russia, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Kazakhstan.
