On Monday, February 13, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country.
24 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted person was detained
At the Terehova Border Control Point one citizen of Moldova leaving Latvia, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Vientuļi and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to six citizens of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Two more citizens of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners
three citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Ukraine, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of India were detected at the Silene, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation of the Indian citizen was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for five persons - two citizens of Russia, one – of Latvia, one – of India and one - of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 8 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Russia, one - of Belarus, one – of Moldova, one – of Tajikistan, one - of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
