On Thursday, February 16, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 57 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Silene, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Great Britain, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. 11 more citizens of Ukraine and two – of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

two citizens of Georgia and one – of Moldova were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation of the Georgian citizen was not initiated, the other person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for London, without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons - six citizens Estonia, one – of Russia, one - of Lithuania and one – of Rumania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, three – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Ukraine, one – of Georgia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Poland, one - of Romania and one – of Serbia.
