On Sunday, February 16, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 181 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 5 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country. 13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 foreigners

at the Terehova Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; while at the Pāternieki Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Moldova was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - two citizens Lithuania, one – of Russia and one – of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 27 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, four - of Russia, three – of Latvia, three – of Kyrgyzstan, two - of Moldova, two – of Serbia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Poland, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of the Czech Republic.
