On Saturday, February 18, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 55 offenders at external borders and within the country.
26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 2 wanted persons were detained
At the „Riga” Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Dublin, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. While at the Ventspils Unit, during checking the passenger list one Latvian citizen entered Latvia from Sweden, who is wanted by the Police, was detected.
The persons were detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 19 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Silene, the Vientuļi and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to 14 citizens of Moldova and one – of Azerbaijan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. One more citizen of Russia was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Russia was detected at the Terehova Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia - one departing for Hurghada without valid travel document (the document is not valid due to a change of surname) and one minor citizen departing for Hurghada, who did not have a notarized authorization for the child from the other parent to leave the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - three citizens of Estonia and one – of Lithuania.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, five – of Ukraine, three – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Moldova, two – of Germany, one – of Iceland and one – of Israel.
